Berry Berry Berry Smoothie

What is a smoothie without fruit? The combination of all the different flavors to create one very yummy drink. Bananas, mangos, avocados, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, this list is infinitely long. But, there is more to a smoothie than just fruit, right?

I tried out this recipe while I was dealing with a stress reaction in my right femur. I was trying to implement more supplements and vitamins into my diet to aid in the healing process and build my bone/joint strength. This is where I discovered collagen. Among the various health benefits, collagen supplements strengthens bones and relieves joint pain. They can increase BMD and reduce inflammation.

I decided collagen would be important during my recovery, but I wasn’t sure how to implement it into my diet. I was already taking calcium supplements and other medications, that I did not want to be bothered with yet another pill. So, I tried Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. I bought the individual packets and looked up ways to add this into my diet: in water, coffee, oats, smoothies…

Smoothies. Perfect. I had a bag of frozen berries in the freezer, spinach, and banana. So I threw it all in the blender and created my new favorite smoothie combo! A Very Berry Smoothie.

This smoothie is perfect for a small breakfast, a pre or post workout, or a snack. I loved having it in the morning before my coffee. It was easy, simple, and gave me some fuel before my morning classes and before some more breakfast!

Enjoy this recipe. Fuel your body. Much love!
