Overnight Oats

I started making overnight oats the summer before college. I figured it would be one of those staple breakfasts that were easy to have when running from practice to class. I was so right. I have made so many different combinations of overnight oats, and I mean this with my whole heart, they have never failed to satisfy me.

Overnight oats are actually extremely simple. All you need is a mason jar (top included), your favorite oats, your choice of milk, a form of sweetener, and literally any topping you enjoy. Some common toppings are nut butters, berries, banana, chia seeds, flax seeds, nuts, yogurt, etc. If you do choose to add toppings the night before my advice is to add berries, chia seeds, flax seeds, yogurt, and half of your nut butter. Then, add the other half of the nut butter, banana, and nuts. This is just my preference and this is because the seeds will be able to soak overnight, the berries will add more taste, the yogurt will absorb, and the nut butter won’t be too overwhelming. However, this is your breakfast, and overnight oats are so simple, you can truly make it your own!

One of my favorite tricks is making my overnight oats in an almost empty nut butter jar. It is a huge game changer! The oats have such an amazing taste and texture. To be honest, I literally look forward to the end of my peanut butter jar because I know the most perfect breakfast is awaiting me.

For this recipe, I am going to share with you just a simple overnight oats recipe. This way you can see how to make this basic recipe and make it your own.

I love overnight oats. Like they literally hold a place in my heart. Too dramatic? Just being honest! Anyways, they are perfect for any busy day. I usually make them in the summer, when I need something for work or in the beginning of the school year. Solely because I am that person who eats cold stuff in the summer and warm in the winter, anyone else?!

What I am trying to say is, this recipe is easy, quick, and will leave you fueled and ready for your day. Whether it’s during exams, post long run, or rushing to work, overnight oats will have your back!

Enjoy this recipe. Fuel your body. Much love.
