Tahini Brownies
Gluten & Dairy Free!
Where are my chocolate lovers!? I mean this so wholeheartedly- I don’t think I go a day without dark chocolate or any form of chocolate. It is a staple in my diet to say the least.
So now that I have my chocolate lovers attention, how do brownies sound to ya? What about brownies from the box? Oh yes. Those were my favorite goto dessert to eat, make for fun, or lick the batter (sorry mom!) when I was little. And to be honest, brownies from the box will always be my favorite brownies. So, if you are craving brownies from the box, go make them for me!
Because of my fond love of brownies I was intrigued when I came upon multiple “tahini brownie” recipes. First of all, what the heck is tahini?! Actually though, what is this odd paste that is light brown and isn’t a nut butter? And it’s used for hummus? Why in the world would you put that in brownies?! Those were my initial thoughts on tahini. But, I gave this sesame seed paste a shot and man, did it exceed its expectations! It is not an overwhelming flavor and provides the right amount of oil for the brownies to bake properly.
So, I attempted a tahini brownie recipe of my own. I used a dry ingredient combination of oat flour, coconut flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, coconut sugar, and a dash of salt. This gave the brownies the ability to rise and hold the batter together. I used a wet ingredient combination of tahini, maple syrup, eggs, vanilla, and almond milk. This gave the brownies the sweetness they need and the perfect texture you desire! And finally, my secret ingredient: melted dark chocolate. I melted about 6 squares of Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate with about ½ TBSP of coconut oil, added that to the wet ingredients, and stirred up the chocolatey goodness!
I love this recipe for multiple reasons. One being, it’s brownies and who doesn’t love brownies. Two being, it’s double chocolate, so it’s automatically double the deliciousness. And finally, this recipe has variation. If you want these brownies to be gooey and chewy bites, then bake them for about 20-25 minutes. But, if you want these brownies to rise and have a soft cake-like texture, bake for about 30-35 minutes.
These brownies won’t let you down. They will make you’re tough days brighter, your dessert more fantastic, and your chocolate cravings satisfied.
Enjoy this recipe. Fuel your body. Much love!
